Viewing Patient Progress Pattern Data
Note: Your Staff Manager configuration may not include this optional application. To add this application to your configuration, contact your Clinical Consultant or Client Advocate.
Complete the following steps to view patient progress pattern data:
- From the Demand menu, select Patient Pattern Management. The Patient Pattern Management page opens.
- Click Go to load patient data.
- Click the History icon
to the left of the patient's name. This opens the Patient Encounter Information window. The Patient Event History tab is active by default.
- Click the Patient Progress Pattern tab to view it.
The tab includes the following information.
- Patient's name: The patient's name in Last Name, First Name format.
- Patient Encounter Number: The identification number the facility assigned to the patient.
- Show History icon: You can click this button to see the patient's Library pattern history. See the following section, Viewing the Patient's Pattern History, for more information.
- Current Anchor Date: The date and time the patient arrived in the inpatient nursing unit.
- Current Pattern: The patient's currently assigned Library pattern. If the patient has a DRG pattern, the pattern information is preceded by the letter D.
- Expected TLOS (Days): The patient's estimated total length of stay if he or she progresses according to the expected pattern.
- Library TLOS (Days): The patient's estimated total length of stay if he or she progresses according to the assigned library pattern.
- TLOS to Date (Days): The length of time the patient has been in the facility, from the anchor date up to the present time.
- Other Patient Events and Level of Care Alerts Legend: This legend displays how Demand Manager presents Other patient events and level of care alerts. Other patient events are displayed at the top of the patient's pattern bar as a dark blue line. Level of Care LOS alerts are displayed at the top of the patient's pattern bar; TLOS alerts are displayed at the bottom. Small gold squares mean the patient is approaching a LOS event, large orange squares mean a patient is meeting an LOS event, and a red line means the patient is exceeding the LOS event.
- The Show Alerts check box: If you select Show Alerts, you can then select either the Library or Expected pattern alerts. If you deselect the Show Alerts check box, you do not see any alerts. If you select Show Alerts: Library, you can then select Show Historical Alerts if you want.
- The Pattern Comparison Table: You can scroll to see the patient's Actual pattern compared to the patient's Library pattern. Data includes date and time for the Actual pattern and day of stay and hour of stay for the Library pattern.
Patients with two or more location-based patterns may see a series of gray slashes in the library pattern bar, as shown in the following illustration. Demand Manager displays these slashes when the patient's actual LOS has exceeded the previous location's library pattern. The beginning of the second library pattern matches the date/time the patient arrived at the second location.
Patients transferred across facilities receive a new anchor date, and the start of the Library Pattern moves to match the new date. See Understanding Patient Transfers Across Facilities for more information.
