Configuring Requests

Self-scheduling is a popular way to enable staff to become active participants in the schedule generation process. By configuring request settings, managers can control employee access to the request page and manage request approvals.

Complete the following steps to configure requests:

  1. Configure Request Settings
  2. Configure Access Schedule Periods (optional)
  3. Configure Access Group Definitions (optional)
  4. Assign Access Groups and Tasks (optional)
  5. Configure Request Limit Definitions (optional)
  6. Assign Request Limits (optional)

You can begin any of these steps by going to the Configure menu, selecting Requests, and selecting a step in the sub-menu.

You must belong to a security group with full Access Schedule permission for the profiles you want to configure. Security group permissions are set in Staff Manager Administrator.

How Web Browsers Affect Configuring Requests

The request configuration pages are cross-browser compatible, meaning you can access and use these pages with any internet browser. You should be aware, however, that Clairvia Web dialogs look slightly different in different browsers.

Users of the Google Chrome browser in particular sometimes see the following option under alerts from Staff Manager: a check box with the message Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs. You should not check this box, as that would turn off critical message functions in Staff Manager.

If you accidentally check the Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs box, you can restore Staff Manager functions by closing the browser and opening it again.
